In a remarkable display of skill and determination, the FC Bayern Munich women’s football team has secured its first double victory in club history by winning both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal. The team celebrated this achievement in front of 45,146 fans at the sold-out Cologne stadium.

Victory in the DFB-Pokal Final

Just four days after clinching the German championship, Bayern triumphed over Werder Bremen with a score of 4-2 in the DFB-Pokal final. Star forward Lea Schüller, who scored three goals during the match, expressed her joy, stating, „I have scored three times, and I don’t even know what to say! It was an outstanding game.“

Head coach Alexander Straus, who is leaving the team, was visibly emotional after the match. „I am finished,“ he said, overwhelmed by pride and emotion. „I am very proud, and I am very emotional,“ he added, fighting back tears.

Celebration and Team Spirit

Schüller, who contributed significantly to the victory with goals in the 6th, 65th, and 79th minutes, called for a celebration after the game, contrasting it with the subdued atmosphere following their recent championship win. She emphasized that the team deserved to celebrate their achievements fully.

Carolin Simon also scored for Bayern in the 30th minute, while Bremen’s goals came from Rieke Dieckmann and Larissa Mühlhaus in the dying moments of the game. Despite their loss, Werder Bremen’s performance earned them respect and a prize of €100,000, while Bayern took home €150,000 as winners.

Notable Absences

Lena Oberdorf, a key player, was not included in the squad, as her return from a serious knee injury is still pending. National team coach Christian Wück remarked that Oberdorf’s decision regarding her participation would be made solely by her.

Game Highlights

Bayern Munich dominated the match from the start, despite a shaky moment from goalkeeper Ena Mahmutovic. The team’s first goal came from Schüller, who scored with a header early in the game. After Bremen managed a brief comeback, Bayern quickly regained control, with Simon scoring a stunning goal to extend their lead.

Even after the break, Bayern maintained the pressure on Bremen, with Schüller sealing the victory with her third goal, prompting a festive atmosphere among the team and fans alike.
